The Way It Is.

This is how Jody and LaVaughn, are now. Not close at all. For Jody is gay, and LaVaughn, is so upset about this because, she really loved Jody. And, even if they aren't together in the way she wanted, but they are friends now and i'm not sure if they are good friends but in the book it says. I really like this book, even though i wasn't suppose to write about this, i just had to say it (:

This Man

pg. 105

"His name is Lester, and his the new guy at her work."

Lester, the guy her mom is dating. And that’s what she think. They are happy together. They seem like there together, and married. And her mom, has been taking down pictures of her father that is everywhere. Leaving it empty, because of a new man. Everything is all good until, Lester had mentioned that they should move in together. They were all fine with that, unless LaVaughn had agreed to move. But she had more in her head then anyone had new. Should she move, and leave the little friends she had. And the biggest problem if she should leave, Jody. But all in all. That ended, when Lester had mentioned to take out money from LaVaughn college fund. Then that was over, LaVaughn, doesn’t know what to think anymore.

" I only recognized Jody  but not the other one, i just noticed it was a boy. i stood, ice still, and saw their mouth together and stay and i froze. "

LaVaughn, had never expected this at anytime of her life. She had never thought that Jody was gay,  never thought in her life she would be this hurt for a boy that she was never with. She was so broken inside. When she got home she just cried and didn’t know who to talk to this about. Who can she trust the most, when she hasn’t had that many friends now. Since she had left them. And some of her other friends might not be able to understand. So all she could do is cry, and one day she just told her mom everything. And she wanted her to get her mind off , of what is distracting her. It helped, and then Jody can last minute, and gave her a gift. And said, a lot of things. Her present was a painting book. For Jody also had a painting on his ceiling. They made up, the understand now.

This quote states, how she feels about Jody. You always notice the little things in the guy you like. LaVuaghn, really never thought about a guy before. She had always been to busy to do anything, or not. She had the time, she just didn’t have anyone to think about. Until now, she never saw Jody in this way, she had always seen him as her buddy, and vis versa.

Suddenly here comes Jody.

Suddenly, here comes Jody back again, changing everything."
This quote was when Jody had just came back from somewhere far, after he had moved away a couple of years ago. And she saw him in the elevator, and she couldn't help and stare of how much he had changed. They talked for a second, or so in till he got of the elevator in the same place he use to live. Then at that moment, LaVaughn started to like him, and sooner or later fall head over heels in love with Jody.

This quote was were LaVuaghn thought to herself, about how god is the way to live. She thought how can god, keep you safe, and keep you from doing the wrong thing. When someone else can do wrong to you. And there goes your pureness.Also, because she doesn't think can help her solve all the problems she has.

True Believer

This quote from the book from pg 23. This section is important to the book because, this is where fifteen year old, LaVaughn named after her two aunts. Is where she knows for a fact that she is going to go to college. But most people in there neighborhood doesn’t have to chance the chances to go to college. Her old time buddy, Jody moved back in and he also really wants to go to college as a professional swimmer. She seems to think he likes her, but we aren’t sure, about the way Jody feels. I think in this book, LaVaugh will get distracted in school and maybe not go to college. And fall in love with the boy, Jody. Because, she think he is gorgeous.
